We're a Learning Destination with the Children's University

We are hugely pleased to announce that Outside Lives have now signed up as a new 'Learning Destination' as part of the new Wrexham & Flintshire Children’s University.

What is the Children's University?

Children’s University is a charity that works in partnership with schools to develop and foster a love of learning in children. They do this by encouraging and celebrating participation in extra-curricular activities both in and outside of school.

The impact of these activities is proven to be positive, which is why they are committed to creating a level playing field of opportunity and opening up access to children of all backgrounds.

The need for Children's University

Did you know that by the time a child turns 18, they'll have spent just 9% of their 'waking life' in a classroom.
Children’s University is about making the most of the remaining 91%.

Research shows that participation in extra-curricular activities can positively impact on attainment, increase a pupil’s positive identification with school, and build both self-confidence and resilience. It also shows that children that do not have access to these opportunities are more likely to fall behind, lack confidence, and fail to develop career aspirations. The resulting attainment gap is so significant that 25% of children from the most disadvantaged backgrounds continue to achieve below expected attainment levels.

What Children's University means to you!

If your school has signed up and you own a Passport to Learning, you can earn Children's University stamp codes when you complete some of our activities. These codes convert into hours as below:
30 hours = bronze certificate

Children’s University members are rewarded all the way up to 1000 hours!
