SIZZLE & STROLL

Our fabulous SIZZLE & STROLL event will take place this Saturday where we will celebrate the imminent release of our wonderful local history book, 'The History of Here'.

We have a lovely stroll mapped out for everyone to enjoy, enabling you to enjoy some wonderful local history, myths and legends along a 2.4 mile circular route taking roughly 1.5 hours to complete (there is also the option to extend this, with a walk to the top of Loggerheads to take in the views) and then back to Outside Lives for a lovely Vegan BBQ and refreshments.

Important Event Timings

The event runs from 11am to 3pm, with the BBQ starting at 12:30

Please arrive between 11:00 - 12:00 if you wish to take part in the walk.

Groups will set off at 11:15, 11:30 11:45 and 12:00

Please note that whilst the walk is not guided, the track is clearly marked and you will be provided with a printed map & instructions.

Don't forget to keep your eyes peeled for our yellow ribbons!

Parking

Please park at Aberduna Wildlife Trust (travelling from Mold, this is the next exit to the right after Outside Lives, post code CH7 5LD) - signage will be in place for parking.

Once parked, please take care to walk down the road to Outside Lives and take the lane next to Aberduna Farm to access our site.

What to expect on the day

On arrival, please sign in at our gazebo - this is the wooden outdoor structure.

You'll be given a map and a printed walking guide.

We have a number of MP3 players detailing some of the stories of the area that we would recommend that you take along (one per group) with you on your walk - if you'd like to reserve one, please email us: [email protected]

Alternatively, you can download these stories to your own devices via the following platforms ahead of your walk.

Please note: you won't be able to download these on site due to limited signal on all networks, this should be done ahead of time.

Google or Apple devices -  https://anchor.fm/outsidelives

Spotify https://open.spotify.com/show/7aLXmsAnuhJubEw71F7t05

(please note: you'll need to have a Spotify account to access the second link)

There are 5 key sites that we'll cover on our route which are visible on the above map.

You'll learn more about these places on the walk through the materials provided on arrival.

What do I need to bring?

Please dress appropriately as we cannot guarantee the weather!

It looks a bit overcast for Saturday, with a chance of rain however, the paths may already be muddy so sensible walking shoes are essential. We'd also recommend a waterproof coat and a water bottle for the walk.

The terrain is mostly flat/easy, though there are 2 stiles (by the ice house onsite and from our woods to the field) which can be bypassed by going through the gate next to the stile and directly into the field should you need to.

The BBQ

A bite to eat at our plant-based (no meat) BBQ will be provided at the end of your walk - we'll be 'sizzling' from 12:30!

Soft drinks and teas/coffee will also be provided.

Important: If you have any food intolerances, please make us aware by emailing: [email protected]
